Pamphlet sparks controversy

He also claims that LGBT "don't seem to care" what Christians think of the LGBT community. I would have to refute this by saying that if a group of people consistently stood against you, wouldn't you have to, as a mere survival technique, grow immune to the condemnation?
I'm not writing this to refute Dr. Werner's theological points; rather, I wanted to point out the irresponsibility of the above statistics.
The LGBT community here is well aware of how to be good people; consequently, we're not alcoholics, drug addicts, morbidly depressed, sexually deviant, or pedophiles. And if we haven't stayed in relationships for longer than three years, you'll have to forgive us-we've been too busy getting my education.
Dr. Werner, I can't prove that these statistics aren't true. But, as a member of the faculty and staff at Shorter, you are responsible for the information that you put into the community and its effects that it might have. There's a reason its called homophobia. It's an irrational fear of those who want the same: the same sex, the same rights, and the same protections. Scaremongering increases these concerns. Justification makes bigots dangerous. And for someone so concerned with gay bashing, these claims are hazardous to the health of the community.
As a gay man who might have learned something from this pamphlet, to have my love compared to liking spam and my orientation compared to preferring blonds, this juvenilization of my life and my pathos is off-putting and offensive.
And by the way, they're "transgender" not "hermaphrodites."
