Wake up to your world

It does not take long for one to realize that in Kentucky you love basketball. I learned to play basketball at the local YMCA and in our driveway at the house.
This past weekend, Covington Holmes, my alma mater, won the 2009 Boys Basketball Tournament. It was the first time that Holmes had ever won! I cannot explain the excitement that is going on inside of me. Have you ever seen the movie Hoosiers? It's that kind of excitement.
Excitement can come in many ways. We do get excited when one of our favorite sport teams wins or when we get back that test grade that says 98 A. Yet, there are other things which we should be excited about but often go unnoticed or we take for granted.
What about the fun times you have with roommates or friends on campus? What about the support and love of your family? What about the relationship we have with God in Christ? I cannot help but wonder what things would be like if we got as excited about God, family, and/or friends.
As we near the time of Easter, reflect some on what we really need to be excited about in our lives. Which should I be excited about, a championship game or a relationship that has forever changed my whole way of thinking? Am I ready to celebrate with a roommate who just aced a test?
Excitement or thanksgiving, I wish we could share more of these kinds of moments that will forever change our hearts. Come by sometime and share some of your excitement. I look forward to celebrating and giving thanks to God with you.
