Admissions show true Shorter

While on campus, I often see the Shorter Relations Society showing around groups of 5 or 10 potential students, and I wonder…are they showing them the real Shorter? Is it a bastion of spirituality and learning or is it a cesspool of hypocrisy? I believe it is somewhere in the middle.
The hard part, however, is finding that happy median in an efficient manor. Our college can seem too academic, but it is also not favorable for a Christian college to be deemed a party school either. So, the greatest question is: does the Shorter admissions staff accurately display its' true colors to prospective students?
This must be addressed with the assumption that no student has any reason to be angry if they come to Shorter with some certain outlandish notions about how life on the Hill will be. It would be absurd to plan on attending a Christian college and be allowed to go on drinking binges and completely neglect school assignments and work.
That is merely common sense.
Therefore, it is maddening when a student claims to be "misinformed" about the values on this college, when they had to understand that a Christian institution would not condone a lifestyle of debauchery and drunkenness in their hallowed halls.
The Shorter admissions staff does a tremendous amount of including tours, events and other necessary actions to entice and aid the admissions process. These tours are very helpful to many incoming students because they are believed to see the "true" Shorter College on these guided ventures.
If we do, however, admit that this Hill is not a perfect place, we have to wonder if the potential students are seeing the "true" Shorter College.
4 out of 5 students surveyed at Shorter believed that the "new ideas" mentioned in the mission statement are overlooked. They may be addressed briefly, but seems to be done in a speedy manner.
Also, the green theme at Shorter for the 2008-2009 school year seems kind of hypocritical. Granted, there have been recycling bins and great strides made to benefit our environment in the future, however, we have overlooked many things.
