As freshmen, we wish that the cafeteria is built to nudge our indulgences, yet mention the cafeteria food and most of us conjure up some pretty unappetizing images.

But the times have changed and colleges are changing with a healthy living campaign student's relish.

Shorter College management is constantly finding ways to improve and adjust to the upcoming demands of students.

Lance Moore, director of Aramark, said, "There are variety of entrée's available for students, we have vegetable pasta every day, fresh fruits, then we have hot line entrée's which sever everything different each day. We have deli, grill and wrap stations that provide cold entrée's".

Moore also said, "We are trying to introduce a different variety of food little by little to the students to sometimes break the monotony, and giving variations of food so the students don't get bored eating same sort of food all through the week."

Moore's changes to the Hilltop Café are not going unnoticed.

"Maybe next year we will have restaurant style dinning hall," said Debra Faust, vice president of student affairs.

In addition to the food, Moore and the cafeteria staff are considering making changes to the Hilltop Café's lunch hours to accommodate the large crowds and other concerns.

"If we stretch the serving hours until 2, it will give the students more time to eat from the hot line food service. It will be easier on their schedule and of course less crowed."

"We are considering volunteer students to come and establish a Dinning Hall Food Committee, which would provide comments and suggestions to Aramark for better food service and overall," said Faust.

Until the formation of such committee and under given variables, Shorter's cafeteria team tries to accomplish as much as they can.
